Cooking battles in Grand Gourmet

Checked 2026-10-27: Game8 and Into Indie Games independently agree on the completed-goals trigger and theme-based set selection. Next-day retries and level-up rewards are Game8-only details.
When it starts
Both sources say the battle begins after every goal in the current sea is done. You pick from set meals you have already prepared. Each round names a theme. Meat and soup are the two themes these pages actually name. Other themes were not copied. Game8 says matching a theme adds points and a sufficiently high taste value can still win without a match. The rival is the impostor Baratie.
What you get
Game8 alone reports that victory opens the next sea and raises dish level, while defeat can be retried the next in-game day. Improve dish level, decorations, and set compatibility before trying again. No checked source provides a fixed winning team or an opponent-specific required score.
Questions
Can I retry?
Yes. Game8 says a loss can be fought again the next day.
What themes exist?
Meat and soup are named. A full theme list was not in the sources.
