Switch 1 versus Switch 2 in Grand Gourmet
Checked . Sources are listed at the bottom.
I opened both Nintendo product pages. They are different products with their own URLs. I did not find a button that turns a Switch purchase into a Switch 2 purchase.
Two products
The US price on both pages was $19.99 on 2026-10-27. One secondary article says Bandai Namco Japan offers no upgrade path. That sentence has a single source, so it is not written here as a confirmed policy.
Resolution, from one article
How To Video Game says it is quoting a Bandai Namco Japan spec sheet: Switch 2 at 4K docked and 1080p handheld, Switch at 1080p docked and 720p handheld, both capped at 30 fps. The original spec sheet was not on the pages I opened, so this stays a single-source quote. Content differences between the two versions were not published in those sources.
Native edition versus compatible Switch edition
Nintendo’s native Switch 2 product lists 292 MB. The original Switch product lists 347 MB and reports supported compatibility with Switch 2, with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch. Its 347 MB Switch 2 line refers to that original Switch product; it is not a second size for the native Switch 2 edition. Both figures are single-source Nintendo specifications.
Questions
Does Switch 1 play it?
Yes. Nintendo has a separate US eShop page for the original Switch.
Do the two editions share a save?
No official transfer or shared-save statement was established in the checked product listings. Nintendo Save Data Cloud support does not by itself establish cross-edition or mobile transfer.
